Young Charlie Kirk and Iryna Zarutska are dead. Murdered. Assassinated. Coincidentally? I think not.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
~ Ephesians 6:12 KJV
“When peripherals collide, convergence is imminent.”
Good morning, friends. A few days ago, a prophet texted me a clip of my grandfather, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr. speaking after the funeral of my father, Rev. Alfred Daniel Williams, King. As I listened to Granddaddy's voice, it was natural for me to become a little weepy and reflective.
In that same feed I discovered a clip of my uncle, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s sermon: "A KNOCK AT MIDNIGHT." In that message, my uncle revealed his personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Within hours, the news was flooded with the report of the slaughter of a Ukrainian woman, Iryna Zarutska. Not long after, there's the news of the brutal slaying of Charlie Kirk. Both Charlie and Iryna are so young. I weep for the loss of life.
This morning riding through the airport to board my flight, I find myself weeping and bewildered once again. While all of this is nothing new; the pain is fresh. Jesus said "there will be wars and rumors of wars..." Yet the pain is so fresh.
With every tragic report, I am transported back to the assassination of my uncle Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The assassination and cover up of the death of my father, Rev. A.D. King. The assassination of my grandmother, Mrs. Alberta Williams King, and so many other tragedies.
The bombing of our home in Birmingham, AL. The attempts on my own life. The shooting and assassination attempts of President Kennedy, Regan and Trump; and so much more. Fear not comes to mind. Pray for America.
Psalm 91 comes immediately to mind and also prayers for peace, reconciliation, forgiveness, repentance and love. Remembering that we are the human race; one blood. Human dignity matters.
“... And hath made of one blood all nations of [humans] for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;”
~ Acts 17:26 KJV
We are in exciting times and perilous times at the same time. When I hear evil reports, I tend to immediately turn my heart to God and try to do something good for others.
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
~ Romans 12:21 KJV
In 1974, I wrote and released my first song LET FREEDOM RING. This was the same year that my grandmother, Mrs. Alberta King was shot down while playing THE LORD'S PRAYER on the organ on a Sunday in church.
When the song came to me -- nine years before my actual born again Christian experience in 1983 -- I realized that we as human beings should not make idols out of human heroes. I knew even then that only to God should we give our allegiance and our worship. Let freedom ring, and thank God that King had a dream.
Over the next several years, there would be many tragedies and many triumphs. Here I am today, weeping while riding through the airport. And yet rejoicing in Jesus Christ, my Savior.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
~ John 3:16-17 KJV
My mother Dr. Naomi Ruth Barber King taught me to "love, forgive and heal on my feet." Daddy King taught me to "make it plain. Keep looking up. Thank God for what we have left."
As the plane lifts off into the air, leaving Atlanta for Washington DC where I am going to serve God, America and the world with some of my many duties and opportunities, I speak to you as friends, reminding you to fear not; to love; to repent; to forgive and to have faith in God.
